Principal Designer/Owner
I grew up as an Air Force brat living and traveling all over the U.S. and Europe. After graduating high school in Germany, I moved back to the states for my undergraduate studies at University of California at Santa Cruz, where I earned a degree in Environmental Studies, with an emphasis in horticulture and ecology. I extended my studies in the Redwood forested campus to partake in the famed apprenticeship in Organic Horticulture at the UCSC Center for Sustainable Food Systems. Upon completion of undergrad studies in California, I moved to Boulder, and immediately started learning about the nuts and bolts of sustainable landscape installations through working for distinguished landscape companies in the area like Ecoscape and Urban Oasis. After working in the field for a number of years, I decided to return to school to further my education in sustainable landscape design. I completed a graduate program in Ecological Design at University of Vermont's esteemed Gund Institute, where I mentored under Dr. John Todd, a pioneering founder in the field.
I am an avid explorer, and have spent cumulative years of my life traveling, working, and living abroad, with a special appreciation for the for jaw dropping diversity found in the ecosystems of the Neo-Tropics. My deep knowledge of ecology and sustainable design has landed me a range of exciting and formative experiences over the years, from guiding trips for National Geographic in Costa Rica, Ecuador and The Galapagos, to designing organic gardens for Francis Ford Coppola resorts in Belize.
Closer to home, I love romping around the Front Range high desert ecosystems, usually hunting for gourmet mushrooms. I hold an Advanced Certificate in Permaculture Design from the Central Rocky Mountain Permaculture Institute, and have extensive knowledge of Colorado Native and xeriscape plants gained from years working in the field, as well as working at Harlequin's Gardens sustainable plant nursery in Boulder. Although my passion is for design, I am no stranger to getting my hands dirty, and draw from years of gardening, hardscaping, and irrigation installation experience throughout the design process.
My approach to design centers around the creation of landscapes that are as equally beautiful as they are functional and productive. Armed with deep knowledge and even deeper appreciation for natural systems, I aim to push the envelope in design that will not only facilitate sustainable living on the Front Range, but also inspire the soul.
